Vivo has officially commenced the public beta program for its next-generation mobile operating system, VIVO OriginOS 6. The update of Vivo Origin OS 6 is now being pushed to a select group of beta testers for the Vivo X200 Pro and iQOO 13 models, following a recruitment drive that began on August 22. The announcement was made by Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao, who highlighted several key new features of the upcoming system.

Key Features of VIVO OriginOS 6 Beta:

  • Notification Stacking and Volume Bar Redesign: The new OS brings a completely redesigned notification stacking and a revamped volume bar for a more streamlined user interface.
  • Global Direct Power Supply: A highly anticipated feature, “Direct Power Prioritization,” has been implemented. This function, active after the phone reaches a 20% charge, allows the device to draw power directly from the charger instead of the battery. This feature is designed to slow down battery charging, mitigating temperature rises during high-demand activities like gaming and video streaming. It automatically deactivates once charging is complete.
  • Enhanced Performance and Design: Han Boxiao noted that the new update offers a significant improvement in smoothness and design, calling it one of the most notable updates in recent years. More features are expected to be announced at the official launch.

Important Information for VIVO OriginOS 6 Beta Testers:

  • Confidentiality: Testers are required to adhere to a strict confidentiality agreement, as not all features are included in the beta, and some are still under development.
  • Potential Issues: As this is a beta release, users are warned to expect potential bugs, higher power consumption, and app compatibility issues.
  • Data Backup: Vivo strongly recommends that testers back up all important data before installing the update, though the process is not expected to wipe the device.
  • Built-in Log Tool: A background log tool will run automatically to collect fault data, with a visible icon in the status bar.
  • Downgrade Option: A downgrade tool and a detailed guide are being provided for users who wish to revert to the stable version of the operating system.
  • Confidential Watermark: A “confidential” watermark will be present on the interface during the beta period.
  • Post-Update Actions: Users are advised to update their applications through the App Store after the system upgrade is complete.
  • Wi-Fi Requirement: This update of Vivo Origin OS 6 requires a Wi-Fi connection for download to prevent excessive mobile data usage.

The full public release of VIVO OriginOS 6 is scheduled to be unveiled in October.
