One of the most exciting announcements at Apple‘s Glowtime event was the introduction of noise-cancelling Apple AirPods 4. This marked a significant departure from previous generations, where this feature was reserved for the premium AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Max. However, as with any new product, questions arose about its performance compared to its more expensive counterparts.

ToggleApple AirPods 4: A Surprising Revelation
Apple has recently shed light on the noise-cancelling capabilities of the AirPods 4. While the new model offers impressive ANC, it falls short of the AirPods Pro 2 in terms of effectiveness. According to Apple’s official website, the AirPods Pro 2 boasts up to 2x more active noise cancellation than the AirPods 4 or the first-generation AirPods Pro.
Despite this, there’s a positive to be taken from this comparison. The AirPods 4’s noise cancellation is said to be comparable to the first-generation AirPods Pro. This is encouraging, considering the latter’s ANC was highly regarded. However, it also raises questions about how Apple managed to achieve such performance with an open-ear design, which typically struggles to block out noise.
The Verdict: A Wait-and-See Approach
While the Apple AirPods 4 noise cancellation is undoubtedly impressive, it’s clear that it doesn’t quite match the level of performance offered by the AirPods Pro 2. Whether the difference is significant enough to justify the price premium will ultimately depend on individual preferences and priorities.
As we eagerly await the opportunity to test the AirPods 4 firsthand, we’ll be keeping a close eye on how their noise-cancelling capabilities stack up against the competition.
